The 411 for January 31st: Inclusivity, Empowerment & Practical Tips Inside!
Welcome to BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Hey, Inclusive AF Crew!
Welcome to this week’s edition of the FREE, Friday 411: Inclusive AF Newsletter! I’m so thrilled you’re here—because every time we connect, it’s another step toward building a world where everyone belongs.
I am so excited for Black History Month!! As a white kid growing up in middle Georgia, I was beyond lucky to have Black teachers who made BHM matter. In addition to research and reports in February on a famous Black American, I also checked out books on Black Americans all year long… Arthur Ashe, Shirley Chisholm, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Jesse Owens, Coretta Scott King, Jackie Robinson, Arethra Franklin, Michelle Obama, Viola Davis, Oprah Winfrey - the list continues even today.
Black History Month officially starts tomorrow and I hope you take advantage of the multiple ways you can celebrate and support the Black Community.
Maybe check out a book on a famous Black American or by a Black Author when you take yourself or your kid to the library tomorrow!
Four Resources to Support the Black Community
Educate yourself and others: Read books, watch films, and listen to podcasts that highlight Black voices and experiences.
Donate to Black-led organizations: Support nonprofits and initiatives that focus on racial justice and community empowerment.
Shop at local Black-owned businesses & Creators: Use directories like WeBuyBlack, Naspora, or Official Black Wall Street to find businesses near you. For Austinites, click here for a list of local Black Owned Businesses!
Advocate for policy changes: Engage in local and national advocacy efforts to promote equity and justice.
